Jai HIND, Jai BHARAT
They say Mumbai never stops.Well today I saw Mumbai being stopped.Yes, Mumbai was on it's knees today and we Indians were helpless. It is a city that is always on the run. But today a Marathon runner city was forced to stop midway and I am afraid it may loose the race.
I heard of the news of Fidayen attack on the city on previous night, and immediately decided to go there, South Mumbai- where my office is,the next morning. But with the first rays of sun, my phone started ringing. All my well wishers from everywhere I have them, started asking me a lot of questions and gave the customary statutory warning to stay away from the mess. I was reluctant , but I had to give in to their demands. But you know what has been written has to happen, come whatever may. At around 9 am my friend Rakesh called me to come to the office as he too was coming. And despite all the promises given to my kith and kins, I promised him that I will come and I kept this promise. One may ask why I wanted to go there when there might be danger hidden in some LOCAL train or the fellow passenger might turn out to be one of the Fidayen's who are untraceable as yet. Yes it is true there was danger but I decided to face it. Actually , to tell the truth I had gone there to catch one of the terrorists and at least waste one bullet of those bloody bastards. Yes, it is utterly foolish but when you have anger seething beneath your ribs you don't care for the consequences or check whether your decision is rational or not.Had I faced those bastards I would have killed at least one of them and my life would have got some meaning. But unfortunately I could not go no where near the area where the fighting was still on, neither I could get any of them to use my hands or chest on.
Starting from the CGS quarters where I live up to CST or VT station, there was eerie silence and enough signs of the impact of the sinister happenings , that started last night and are still on. There were very few passengers in the LOCAL and for the first time since coming to Mumbai I could get a seat from my boarding station itself. But this was not a pleasurable moment. Today I was looking all around for the same crowd that I used to hate so much.
When I reached the VT station there were around hundred people in all at that time against usual 10000. I went to look for the waiting hall where the terrorists had sprayed bullets on innocent Indians. There was no blood on the floor , no stray bags , no signs of last night massacre. Everything had been wiped out. Authorities had tried their best to make things look normal as if nothing had happened. But they didn't know how drastically they failed. The horror was there on the faces of people, the blood was all spread on the hearts of people and some 200 hundred odd eyes were asking questions which no government , no authority would like to provide-- are you sure you will save me in future from such maniacs? can you give me the guarantee that it will not be me-next time? should I run away from Mumbai, from India, from this world to escape from these enemies of humanity? And finally, do you treat me as a human being at all? On the road to my office there were lesser and lesser people. In the office there were just 30 odd die hard guys. And the Marine Lines area which is always abuzz with activities was just deserted. One who has seen Mumbai at 10 in the morning, wouldn't have been able to recognise this as one of the most busy parts of Mumbai. That's why I say Mumbai has been stopped and how! This is unforeseen. I returned empty handed-- no terrorist's blood on my hands -- in another empty LOCAL.
This is not the first incident when a few radicals have brought a whole nation and it's citizens knee down before them. And this will not be the last. The details change, the names change , the dates change but the crux remains the same--- to quote the 'common man' of A Wednesday --- we will kill you in the same way, let's see what the hell you can do to stop us? It is really painful to say such things but truth is always bitter. My country , my beloved Bharat that is India, is suffering. And looking at the leadership and intelligentia that is available today I am afraid there is no early respite from these proxy wars.
Why I am so unhappy and so restless? It is simple. I love my country .I love it's citizens. I love all it's states. I love all it's towns and villages. I love it's birds and animals. I love it's rivers and mountains. I love it's diversity-- it's different religions, different languages, different rituals, different festivals, different foods, different colours, everything. I love my country as a whole. And I don't want it to convert into a homogeneous lump of people, a cage where all the birds sing the same song- under force. And to ensure this I am ready to give the last drop of my blood. Now it is for the people of India to decide whether they want to live in 21st century or go back to those medieval days where any dissenting voice was doomed to be murdered.
What we can do? Yes, very important question. There are many ways. Put pressure on the government to take guarantee of our lives. Go for Peaceful candlelight processions. Discuss the matter of national safety with your friends, relatives and neighbours. Use your vote to best use -- elect those who are worth their salt, who have impeccable records of honesty and nationalism. If there is no such candidate ,you raise yourself up to be one such candidate -- path to freedom goes through jungles, hence be ready for sufferings. Educate your illiterate brothers, so that they can make righteous choices. Look that you too remain honest to the nation in all your acts because sweeping starts from home. And finally you can use your own innovative ways to strengthen this beloved country of yours.

cheating cheating cheating... is any union there
Will the pay scale of Inspectors of Central Excise,Customs as per part B section I clause ii be upgraded to Rs. 7450 with grade pay of Rs. 4600/-?I hope this happens. Otherwise the Direct Recruit Inspectors (Scale 6500-10500) appointed after 1.1.2006 will be the worst affected by the VI Pay Commission.Because of the merger of pay scales 5000-8000, 5500-9000, and 6500-10500, even the Senior TA (scale of pay 5000-8000) who was getting Rs. 5000/- as basic pay as on 31.12.2005 will be getting more than the Direct Recruit Inspector appointed after 1.1.2006. Shocked?!Here is the illustration; For Direct Recruit who joined on or after 01.01.2006 the pay as per VI pay Commission will be fixed to Rs. 13500/- . With increments on 1.7.2007 and 1.7.2008, his pay will become Rs.14330/- which amounts to Gross salary of Rs. 20417/-For a Senior TA who was receiving Rs. 5000 in the pay sacle 5000-8000, as per the VI pay commission his pay Rs. 5000 will be multiplied by the factor 1.86 and Rs. 4200/- will be added as a Grade pay which amounts to Rs. 13500/- With increments on 1.7.2006, 1.7.2007 and 1.7.2008 his pay will become Rs. 15070/- which amounts to Gross salary of Rs. 21423/-. That means he will be receiving Rs. 1006/- more than a Direct Recruit Inspector joined on or after 01.01.2006.For an Inspector who joined before 01.01.2006 and receiving Rs. 6500/- as pay in the pay scale of Rs. 6500-10500), as per the VI pay commission his pay Rs. 6500/- will be mulitplied by factor 1.86 and Rs. 4200/- Grade pay will be added to this which amounts to Rs. 15070/- . With increments on 1.7.2006, 1. 7.2007and 1.7.2008 his pay will become 17810/- which amounts to a Gross Salary of Rs. 25150/-. That means he will be receiving Rs. 4733/- more than a Direct Recruit Inspector joined on or after 01.01.2006.Is this Justice?Does it not amount to the Govt. cheating Direct Recruits? The govt. just degraded the Direct Recruits from 6500-10500 to Rs. 5000-8000 scale? Does it mean Govt. does not want any new talents?Think of the difference in pay between a Direct Recruit joined on 31.12.005 and 01.01.2006 is Rs. 4733/-. Is it justice?Think of the persons who were already working in Rs.5500 scale and resigned their job and joined as Inspectors just because of better pay. Will it be addressed to Govt.?Can any one answer these queries?Already Direct recruits are having problems like Inter Commissionerate transfer, Contributory pension, Seniority anamoly. Now another feather in the Cap

Sixth Pay Commission : Fraud With Direct Recruits In 6500-200-10500 scale
While Everybody in the government departments is happy of getting at least 25% raise, there is a lot of mourning awaiting the direct recruits in the pre revised scale 6500- 200 -10500. As 5000-8000, 5500-9000 and 6500-10500 --- these three scales have been merged everybody was thinking that 5000-8000 will get what the 6500-10500 would have got on account of pay commission's recommendations. But here is the tragedy. What the commission has done is actually to downgrade the 6500-10500 scale and not upgrade the 5000-8000 scale. Look how it has been done::::
As per pay commission's recommendations when various scales have been brought in a particular pay band then pay in the pay band for a particular scale will be calculated by giving as much increments @3% each increment as the fixed number of year's service is required to reach from one prerevised scale of pay to another one as per DOPT's order dated 25/05/1998. These increments will be calculated on the total of minimum pay in the pay band and min. grade pay in that pay band. Then adding the min. running pay, the increments and the grade pay corresponding to that scale will decide the total basic pay. For example-------
For getting 6500-10500 scale from 5000-8000 min. 6 years service is required. So in PB2 while fixing pay of 6500-10500 recruits they should be given 6*3=18% raise on the total of min. pay in the PB i.e. 9300 + min. grade pay 4200. This raise comes out to 2430. So by adding 9300+4200 (grade pay corresponding to 6500-10500) +2430 the basic pay comes out to 15930. This should not only be payable to 6500-10500 but to 5000-8000 and 5500-9000 also as these scales have been merged together. But what the government has done is just to cheat the employees especially the direct recruits. So a direct recruit in 6500-10500 will also get 13500 as per govt notification. If calculated the net increase in one's salary comes out to around 1000 that is less than 10%. So you can hang yourself if you are a direct recruit in 6500-10500 appointed after 01/01/2006. You are not going to get 6th pay commission at all!!!!!!!!!!
And what more an employee appointed before 1/1/2006 who is getting 5150 on that date and you appointed on or after 1/1/2006 are getting 6500 , he will get more. SHOCKED!!!!!!!!!

Mumbai : something official about it
Hey friends ! Again and again Mumbai and its people are puzzling me. There are certain very interesting facts about it and the Marathis. There I have rarely seen any guy in casual dresses i.e. in trousers or shorts. When I was moving around in a Pajama, I was embarrassed to see nobody except me on the road walking in such a fashion. In fact it was a surprise because in Delhi it is very common to roam around in casuals. Your experience or views may be different about it but I think this shows how fast is Mumbai running and the citizens are not getting any time to rejuvenate their senses.
And about the mangoes. North Indians will be puzzled to know that here in Maharashtra they reap mango crop throughout the year. And the kutchha aam or ambi is called CARRY here. And they sell pieces of carry in a pouch for 5 Rs.
Everybody knows that need is the mother of innovation. And the locals at chaupatty beach have redefined its meaning. There are many hawkers at the beach who offer you a CHATAI to sit on, on rent of Rs.10. Isn't it amazing.
AND About safety of girls. At least for Churchgate area I can say Mumbai is the safest area for womenfolk. Here they can enjoy life, walk alongside the marine drives or sit on the marine drives' sea side pavement with their boyfriends. They are free to wear clothes of their choice. And Mumbai seems to have highest number of working women among other Indian cities.
For someone with a low budget like me it is difficult to live here in Mumbai. But one thing is quite cheaper here and that is fruit chat, easily available at the corner stalls. Generally they keep their stalls clean and the fruit quality is quite good. So give it a chance whenever you come to Mumbai.
I forgot a lot more things that puzzled or attracted me. I will gather them soon and present to you till then BYE!

MUMBAI, IT IS FUN ! मुम्बई कुछ तो है
Hi friends I am calling you from Mumbai or Bombay or Bambai or whatever you name it। It is really a grand city, with it's myriad mysteries and tough life. After a long search I could locate a cyber cafe in my vicinity. It is really an astonishing thing that this rich city so advanced in technology has so less cyber cafes compared to Delhi. And mind you I am staying in the heart of Mumbai , near Churchgate. So now DUSHYANT is in MUMBAI.
